It is slightly deceptive. Because when I look at a designer I look at what I would create if I was sending looks down a runway. But no, I am not a fashion designer so that isn't possible, but instead, as a Fashion buyer, I will get to buy what I love. And someday I aspire to buy for Moda Operandi. This collection is one of those - either I want to recreate high street versions of it or I'd like to sit with Jacquemus and tell him that I want to buy his entire collection and sell it to people I feel might do justice to his silhouettes. Since neither is possible at the moment, I sit and appreciate everything that makes this brilliantly constructed collection so jaw-droopingly gorgeous. His rebellion against the so-called rules of garment construction makes his shapes look sensuous. I wonder how he made that possible. Circular cut-outs and huge broad shoulders are the clear winners here but I am more in awe of the shapes of his sleeves which are bringing life to the entire ensemble. Especially the sleeves that didn't flow nor match with the other, they were the real deal. Thigh–high boots, kidney-shaped bags, shoulder-reaching gloves and big buttons are sometimes all it takes.
