Why Isn't Anyone Wearing Capris?
The iconic capris from the 90s are being kept under the wraps and I am not sure why. It seems like high street retailers have forgotten about the versatility of the capri and the runways have decided to turn them into serious couture. I have an inkling that these are coming back into the fashion limelight and Leandra Medine would agree. There is also that possibility of the cropped 70s flare and the mom jeans stealing the thunder but it is soon going to take over the streets before Alexander Wang comes up with a logo version of it. Just about covering the knee this perfect jeans-replacement for the scorching summer was a favourite staple of Carrie Bradshaw (spotted in season 1 to 5). American (sitcom) sweetheart, Rachel Green, seemed to enjoy them on a casual day too. What’s not to love? It is the modified length of a normal trouser giving you more room for bare legs. A high waisted capri styled with a tie shirt knotted on the waist is the winning comeback look and a 90s macro trend . The capri can also be worn with a slip camisole to make it look easy and effortless. If you are a 90s lover and a Sex And The City fan, I would be surprised if you haven't already purchased a new pair this year.
Tip - Since retailers haven't caught on to the trend yet, you can take the matter into your own hands! Choose your favourite worn-out high waisted skinny jeans and measure upto where you are happy to do away with the length (I’d say just an inch below the knee). Mark the area and use a pair of fabric sissors to cut the fabric off. If you are not a fan of the frayed edges roll it up twice and you have a pair of well fitted denim capris. I have cut up my Joni jeans from Topshop and it's a hard decision not to wear my new capris all day, everyday.
